Learn More About The History Books Didn’t Teach You

This tour weaves oral history interviews from the Drag Arts Oral History Project with archival information from the William Way Center Archives (John J. Wilcox, Jr. Archives) and places these stories throughout the Gayborhood to highlight and celebrate the drag arts.

This tour is a collaboration with the Drag Arts Oral History Project. Beyond the Bell has been assisting the DAOHP in creating a digital archive of interviews with Philadelphia drag artists over the last two years. With a collection of 20 interviews (and growing), we are proud to continue to collaborate with Wilfredo Hernandez on the Drag Me Philly Tour.

Reviews of the Drag History Tour Philadelphia

One of a kind

-Basanthi

Loved the Drag queens tour i took this week, it's one of a kind, we listened to the video snippets of their experiences (which gave a unique perspective of this art form ), along with visiting the various spots portraying their rich history, listening to the lesser know facts and stories about their activism and struggles. It's my second time with this tour company and they are my favorite!!.

A blast

Went on the Drag Me Philly tour yesterday and had a blast! I loved that the tour was based on an oral history project and we got to hear clips from interviews with local drag artists, as well as learn about Philly's drag pioneers. Rebecca was a relaxed guide who put everyone at ease. I highly recommend Beyond the Bell tours!

We came to celebrate Women’s History Month

He is authentically himself and you can feel the love through the stories he tells. So much history along with a beautiful scenic walk. The history was explained in such a fun yet informative manner that made me actually remember, in detail, what was said. I came with a huge group of women to celebrate Women’s History Month and amongst all the things we did, this was by far my favorite.
