Events in the Philly Area in August we think are worth checking out!
"The BlackStar Film Festival is an annual celebration of the visual and storytelling traditions of the African diaspora and of global communities of color, showcasing films by black, brown and indigenous people from around the world."
"Join performance memoirist Gabrielle Civil and children's and YA author Zetta Elliott for a reading of collaborative and solo work drawn from black girlhood and a discussion of black feminism, honesty, and imagination. Former Philadelphia poet laureate Yolanda Wisher will moderate as all three black feminists navigate, race, gender, art, and community. Free and open to the public. All welcome.
